I have made many sweaters, hats, and fingerless gloves, but this was my first sock - so easy, why didn't I do it sooner???
Kieren in CA
(kierendutcher.com)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-60845588051080408652008-01-24T23:12:00.000-05:002008-01-24T23:12:00.000-05:00Congratulations on the TV shows. I know what it's like to worry if you sounded OK... hubby and I sing and this morning they taped us for a show tomorrow morning.

It airs before I typically wake up and I'm not sure I want to change my schedule to hear myself sound too chatty again. I know we sang well, at any rate.

I am working on a pair of DK-weight socks for me, they seemed thick when I started them but since it was 5 degrees this morning I wish they were bulky now!

I also crocheted (rare for me) a small penguin, got all the pieces made up but need to sew them all together. It's for my brother the geek, he'll love it.

Wish I could see your embroidery show in particular, but we don't have a good way to watch TV here. Your book is fabulous... recommended it to a knitting student this week.ColorJoy LynnHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03238476918178854398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-83726519054053197992008-01-24T17:53:00.000-05:002008-01-24T17:53:00.000-05:00Thanks for the link; I requested my local PBS stat...Thanks for the link; I requested my local PBS station to carry the series. I bought your book from Borders in my city on Wednesday, and have just about finished my version of the Bullseye Beanie, translated into a different gauge. The default yarn in New Zealand that we all learnt to knit on and make so many garments from is double knitting - 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cms. So, I used different colours from my stash.

We do of course have lots of yarn varieties here. However, it's fun to see what's available elsewhere. I visit California each year to see my son, daughter in law and grandson, so it's a chance to pretend to be a US knitter. Will certainly follow up your yarn this year when I go.

I do like your book very much - wonderfully inventive shapes, textures and colour combinations.

Betty-AnnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-63742792373723851232008-01-24T13:58:00.000-05:002008-01-24T13:58:00.000-05:00Did you see the article in the Times about small f...Did you see the article in the Times about small farms on Martha's Vinyard? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/23/dining/23vine.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=cape+cod&st=nyt&oref=sloginAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-16360577789507939982008-01-24T12:06:00.000-05:002008-01-24T12:06:00.000-05:00Thanks for the form to request that show on our lo...Thanks for the form to request that show on our local PBS station - I have submitted it.

These days I am knitting the Modern Quilt Wrap, four different pairs of socks (actively, a Noro Booga bag.
