You/We Haven't Seen This in a While

New lamb born out of season last week. The mama must have lost/aborted her lamb in winter and then she came back in cycle. It's September so she became pregnant in March. The Farmer was surprised to see this Cheviot cross last week amongst the grazing flock after shearing. The rest of the ewes have been moved up the hill but this mama stayed behind. Looks pretty odd to see one sheep and a lamb in a huge field picking at the grass. So used to seeing lambs in the brown scenes of winter barns, hay, and muck. The green looks gorgeous. I think it is awesome how the little lamb's head is always to the ground, eating away at the grass.

It was a beautiful early fall evening after the Franklin County Fair. I took these photos knowing the light would be so pretty.

Finally they figured out what was going on and took a run for it.

Have a great week everyone.

  3. Wonderful pictures! They look so sweet the way they were looking right at you, until they decided to run away.

  5. I love Lambs any time any place but I do have to agree with everyone else that last shot is great. Blow it up, print it out, frame it, and put a price on it. A money maker there.
