New Garden Effects Regia Sock Yarn by Kristin Nicholas + Giveaway Friday!

Let's start today with a beautiful photo of our sheep on the hill in the midst of autumn foliage.....

For the second season, I've teamed up with the fine folks at Regia for my Garden Effects Sock Yarn. Seriously - how exciting is this for me.... to have my colors all over the world. Whoa! Pinch me!

You all know how I wax poetically about the influence my garden and its plants and blooms have on my work. Sometimes I just think I can't think of anything else to say. But a few weeks ago, when I was photographing the new Garden Effects Sock Yarn colors, I was astounded by the truth. Here - in living color - you can see the summer flowers from my garden next to the new sock yarn colors. Wow! It really is true.

These are the new shades I designed. They add to the already established Garden Effects colors you can find on the Regia webpage here.

Check them out at your local yarn store. You'll need 2 balls for a pair of adult socks.  Can't find them at your LYS? They are available on-line here.

It's Friday and I'm celebrating the launch of the new colors. Here's what I have for FOUR lucky winners......... 2 skeins of one of the new shades of Garden Effects (my choice of colors) - enough for a pair of socks for you or a lucky friend.

Here's how to enter.....
Answer the following question in the comments section......
Q: This winter I want to knit or crochet WHAT?

Please, US addresses only. As always, leave an easy way to get a hold of you - Ravelry id or email or blog address.

Contest ends Tuesday, October 29th at 11:59 p.m.

This winter it's going to be socks. Socks, socks, socks. I have four designer kits I've amassed and at least that many skeins of hand dyed. I give away almost all the socks I knit though to my mother, my sisters, my aunts, my daughters, and my cousins. So I can never knit enough pairs.

It probably would be easier to answer what I don't want to knit this winter rather than what I do want to knit...frankly, I am going to knit just about everything! In the queue is an Amy Herzog sweater using her Custom Fit program, scarves, socks, a shawl for my sister, hats for donation, mittens using one of your designs, maybe some gloves...I guess the real question is "what do I plan to finish this winter"!! ;-) Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway!

I was planning to start another cardigan with a zipper. However after adopting two kittens, I need to adjust my plans. Young kittens and knitting don't mix well together. The kittens are distracting. They are so much fun! Also, they are rambunctious.

Until they settle down, I'm going to work on smaller projects. There are a number of hats, mittens and the like that I want to work on. Also maybe a shawl or two. I made the pattern "hitchhiker" from the last version of Garden Effects yarn and really liked how it turned out.

This year I am knitting hats for winter. It started the other day when knitting a sock for a friend that I decided the pattern I used had enough stretch to be the bottom of a hat instead of ribbing. Into the stash and I have a lot of Julia, as I bought it before I could no longer find it. The first hat I made was terrific. It was soft and turned out just like I wanted. Then I started making the same hat, different sizes. They are all so wonderful. I think all of my children, their spouses and all the grandchildren will get one this Christmas. I am getting 5 sts to the inch on a 7 needle so they knit up quick.

I mostly crochet, but love the way knitting looks and feels. Drives me crazy that I'm not good at it. So far I've only knitted scarves. I am happy about the results, but I really want to know how to make socks. I have a couple of books and the needles. That's what I intend to do.

Socks! After working for a year to recover from de Quervains tendonitis, I'm about to tackle socks again. My son has requested a pair and I'm happy to be healthy enough to honor it!

I love your colors :)

I really like your new sock colors! I want to knits some hats and mittens that don't have to match but do look like they are related. We have a very odd lot of hats and mittens and they don't look related at all. I am also eager to knit myself a sweater based on EZ's 1 and 3 pattern. I knitted two sweaters based on that pattern years ago and it was fun seeing how different they looked because of the colors I picked. I have a new set of colors picked out just waiting for me to finish some other projects. gnlmutti@gmail.com

WOW...what lovely colors! I will be knitting many of the Christmas gifts for my family this year, and socks are always on that list. Along with many baby/toddler-sized items for my granddaughters. The Lupine and Summer Colors are my favorites. Ravelry ID: jaydawnrn

I would like to make myself something for a change. I think a charcoal grey cozycoat from the Unofficial Downton Abbey magazine would make me happy.

Every winter I knit something for my doctor for Valentine's day...socks, hats, mittens, scarves, etc. She absolutely LOVES brightly colored socks so that's first on my "to do" list after the holidays. She's a love and it's both an honor and a privilege to give her something special in return!

I will be making scarfs. I don't know whether they will be crocheted or knitted. I just picture a mug of coffee, my project, and old black and white movies playing...cozy inside while snow falls outside. s_e_sleeper@hotmail.com

This winter I'll be finishing a cardigan I started in the summer; then I'll be knitting some shawlettes. I love having different colored scarves to wear with my coat and just decoratively.

That lupine colorway in the sock yarn is just sooo my colors ;-).

What am I doing to knit this winter?????????????? A ribwarmer for my mother, a christmas stocking (one of yours) for my first grandson, a warm alpaca sweater for me (top down, Elizabeth Zimmerman), a pair of purple socks. I love your colors.

Beautiful yarn! This winter hope to catch up on some gift knitting which includes finishing my first pair of socks intended for my mother. First it was for her birthday, now I'm hoping Christmas. I'm stuck on the heel of the 2nd sock. First one went like a dream and when I got to the heel of the 2nd one I realized I didn't follow the pattern but actually like the end result but now can't recreate it! Ugh! RAV ID leannegoddard
