I always liked that Julia's cooking shows were welcoming to anyone no matter how advanced their cooking skills were. She encouraged folks to expand their horizons.
Can't wait to see the movie too.eviehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14100410423946658206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-38446620788264501832009-07-23T20:43:54.362-04:002009-07-23T20:43:54.362-04:00I saw the Julie/Julia movie at a pre-showing last ...I saw the Julie/Julia movie at a pre-showing last week. Of course we will more than likely wait for dvd... i have not been to a movie theater in 4 years!
I was lucky enough to live down the road from Meryl's folks in new england and while preggars had a chance to wait on her and them one night (when her daughter was 10 days old). Used to run into her around town as well, at the circus, etc. So needless to say i have always been a big fan!
It will be interesting to learn more about Julia!Turtlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01851819627750022788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23619317.post-56708539785303661362009-07-23T11:14:32.246-04:002009-07-23T11:14:32.246-04:00I'm counting down the days. The other day I just noticed for the first time a framed letter in my pal Elizabeth's kitchen. In the late 60's Elizabeth had found an error in MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING and wrote to Julia Child about it. The gracious author wrote back, a typewritten note on blue paper, thanking Elizabeth and saying that the mistake (a liquid amount) would be corrected in future editions. The letter also got chatty and elaborated a little on the nature of the recipe in question.
It was signed "Mrs. Paul Child".

Hope you are enjoying summer Kristin.
Deborah
xoxoDeborah Newtonnoreply@blogger.com
