Nice trip to Shelburne, Vermont this past weekend. Julia and I drove up Friday evening to be there bright and early to set up for my slide presentation to the Annual Meeting of the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild.
They were a great group of dedicated hookers who come from very long distances to attend their meetings. My talk was held at The Shelburne Museum in the cafeteria which is housed in the back part of this old General Store.
Julia and I had time to walk around the Museum which just closed for the season. It was a gorgeous day and so I took some photos of the different buildings that are historic and serve as exhibit spaces.

Besides the Annual Meeting, the members were bringing in their rugs which will be displayed in the Round House of the Shelburne Museum at Hooked in the Moutains XV - the annual show of work by guild members.....
It was quite a scene - very organized and official.
The rugs will be in the Roundhouse.
I wasn't allowed to look at any of the rugs because they were all neatly organized and rolled up. Many rugs came via mail from all over the country.
I wish I could have seen the show mounted. I doubt I will be able to get back up there - it is a long ride - but I hope some of you do! Let me know what you think.
Thank you so much to the Guild for inviting me to share my ideas on Color with all of you. What a lovely, inviting, talented group!
THANK YOU Kristin for your INSPIRATIONAL talk!

Great images! I want an iPhone just so I can get that hipstamatic app!
ReplyDeleteJulia is growing up so fast!
Even the glimpses of the rugs look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS "Poster" shot of The Lighthouse!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do get back to the Shelbourne. It is an uncommon museum full of treasures from quilts to cars. Julia would love it. Something for everyone and something new around every corner. My childrens favorite was the circus wagon exhibit near the entrance. Make another trip. You won't regret it and while you're there, take a ride down to Green Mountain Rugs near Montpelier.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your slides, your discussion of color and the fabulous samples of knitting. Thanks for a great show!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to get a peak at the rugs even though they are rolled up. What a show it will be. It looks like a wonderful place to be.
ReplyDeleteWe visited the Museum several years ago in October while we were "leaf peeping" the area. The Kalkin House is truly amazing. I love the smell of the old buildings and wonder about the people who were there so long ago. Thanks again for sharing.
