The Storm - February 2013

It lived up to all the hype. Two feet of snow. When we went to bed, there was a couple inches. When we woke up it was over. It didn't look like much from inside the house. It was deceiving to say the least.

The snow is quite light at the moment but there is so much of it. We're supposed to get rain and sleet tomorrow which will just put an icy covering on it all. Yuck. The Farmer has been down at the barns trying to deal with it all. Last night, the bucket loader on the tractor broke. He is hoping he can fix it today as it is key to all his work. I haven't ventured out on the road because I am still working on shoveling out my truck. It is going to take a while. When I get it done, I'll be able to help at the barn some. The big thing is cutting through the path that the plows made so I can even think of getting the truck out.

The lambs in our front pasture couldn't get to their hay. We cut a path for them with our feet and by the end of the day they were eating hay.

I went out for a walk with Winston with my camera. The other dogs had had enough of the deep snow. He's rather hard to get a focused photo of because he moves so fast.

It was getting dark and the whole world had a gorgeous blue cast to it. I love that color at the end of a day after the snow has stopped falling.

Today I will keep digging out with my fingers crossed that the tractor can be fixed easily. It won't be long until the wood supply in the house is gone and I'll be dragging wood through the snow. Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Wow! Bless all your hearts. And, remember that the groundhog signaled an early spring. :-)

OMG, that's lots of snow and it looks bitter cold. I really dislike winter, snow, sleet, ice etc. Can't wait til Spring. I'm out for a little blog walking today, though I should actually go outside to walk, lol. Anyway, love to meet new blogmates.

Hugs to you as you fight through all this snow and icy weather. Things seem to compound when it's bitter outside. But hopefully you'll be able to be inside with a cup of hot tea and knitting this evening.

OhMyBob, that's a lotta snow! I too love that particular blue - it's icy cold and cuts right through me, but I do like it.

Winston looks like he had a good time. Good luck with the wood and keeping warm.

Good to hear that most of your snow was "light" -- it does make a difference!! And, hope that your truck comes with a plow attachment too! Getting through those Road-Plow "walls" can be so much "fun" [NOT!]...

You're gonna have to teach them sheep how to shovel! ;-D

Anyhoo, "good luck" with the RAIN!! AND, the MELT!!

Stay warm - it looks mighty chilly. Thanks for taking your camera out - lovely photos. I've finished my huge Carnival blanket & will post about it on Valentine's Day with luck and some light for photos! Keep safe.

Do you have a sled to drag that wood on? A plastic cement making trough can hold a lot and slide pretty well on snow. (Ask me how I know?) :) Keep warm Helen

Good luck with the tractor! I hope it's an easy fix so you can be back in business. SOmething like that can really make life miserable. Hope all the shoveling gets done. We had so much wind here it mostly got blown around into drifts. Not looking forward to rain/sleet.

Kristin, just a question... do you keep all the lambies in the barn when you get a storm like this? I know you were up to over 140 - that's a lot of babies! Just wondering :-)
Stay warm!
