Big news here from the farm. After several months of work and tweaking, my new website is live. If you have a minute, check it out. I've added lots of new products for sale. My site handles all the downloads itself! Now this might not seem like a big deal to you all but for me - IT IS! It was built for me by Mary Hager who specializes in farm websites and is a local girl. She has been fun to work with. Mary loves coding (thank goodness because I do not understand it at all).
Mary has built a CSA program called CSA SIMPLE which she is marketing to farmers who run CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). Just thought I would put that out there if any of you reading are farmers needing a software system.
Check out my new website here. I would appreciate comments and if something doesn't work, of course, I really would like to know!
Now for another sneak peek from my new book 50 Sunflowers to Knit Crochet and Felt. The yellow sunflower above is knit. I used Valley Yarns Northhampton in Gold for the petals - what a perfect sunflower color. The center is handdyed by my friend Gail Callahan aka The Kangaroo Dyer. It is called BFL Fingering Hand Dyed and is available from Valley Yarns also. I used it double stranded. The pom poms were made of odds and ends of gold and oranges. I use a Susan Bates pom pom maker.
You can see that I was inspired by the textures and petals of this sunflower that grew in our field one summer.
Have a great weekend everyone. Check out my new site if you have a moment.
Saturday is the Sustainability Festival on the Amherst Common if you are local. We'll be at the Amherst Farmers Market selling our lamb. Stop by if you are in town.

the sunflower is so pretty. when my children were little they loved sunflowers. we used to have the giant ones that provided shade for them.
ReplyDeleteThe website is very pretty and clear. Great job!
ReplyDeleteNew site looks great! When we were at the farm last fall, you asked what additional colors of yarn we might like to see. I requested a sunny yellow. It looks like the Sunflower will provide that. Thanks! I am eager to see all the new colors in Fall 2013.
ReplyDeleteOoo.. I like that One...
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, I "featured" your new Site on my measley Blog last night [this morning actually] - a couple of people in Europe *might* have looked at..?? I HOPE! ;-]
Whatever, the Site looks *GREAT*!! Mary did a super job!
Hey! Thanks back for the Comment! :-D
ReplyDeleteThe weather has actually been "okay" up here. Snow's gone. The "Melt" went well. Temps are staying ABOVE *Freezing* at night. Daytime temps swing from 45F to 60F or so... [was much warmer this time last year!] Croci are blooming. Although, the Tulips will be late. They've just broke-ground! -- And, oh gee, the ANNUAL *TULIP* FESTIVAL starts in about a WEEK..?!! [much "overnight" transplanting of hothouse Blooms by the Parks-People will likely be involved!] -- However, the MOST important "Sign" of SPRING: YARD-SALE Season!! :-D
WooHoo!!
Yay, Kristin! Love the new site, esp. the new photos!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cheerful site! It just feels good to be there. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower is wonderful! Congratulations on the new website - it looks great. I especially love your colorful embroidery patterns. I don't know how you do it all and keep so many sheep! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how websites are designed to be user-friendly these days. I guess it's seldom that I had seen a website that I didn't find interesting or enjoyable to browse. Same goes to your website. The simplicity of the theme made it possible for the visitors to focus on the content of the page. Well, with your products giving vibrant colors, it's smart that you left the background plain. Kristofer Mcginty
