Here's a hungry set of twins sneaking a bit of lunch.

Lambs are all about lunch.

Change of topic ..

My 3rd grader (in Massachusetts) had Colonial Day at school today.

My husband is from Kansas was horrified that they watched Little House on the Prarie earlier in the week as that was a 100 years later.

One of the stations today was doll making. The kids stuffed socks, put elastics on the end and part way up to define the head. They took a square of flannel and wrapped it around the baby. Then the kids had to sew the flannel blanket in place. The faces were drawn.

The girls who had done Brownies knew how to sew. My son declared he did and through the osmosis of living in this house he actually did. So I spent my morning teaching 8 and 9 year olds how to sew. We were given darning needles with very thick shafts to use and that worked out very well.

None of the boys declared it girlie. And given a choice of sewing more or coloring, all chose sewing. I had one group of boys who came up with the idea of sew on the poly-fil for hair.

It was the least favorite station of the mothers to volunteer at. As most had no idea how to do any type of sewing.

The costumes the kids wore were great. I have no idea where all these Colonial dresses came from, but many of the girls were all dressed up with dresses, bonnets and aprons. Some boys wore baseball pants and knee socks to look like knickers. Some wore the pointed hats. One had George Washington hair made out of felt.

In retrospect I would have brought in a sock on the needles and a couple of quilts to show.
