New Updates on Appearances and Classes

Somehow, I missed announcing an upcoming teaching appearance that is almost upon me. I'll be at Colorful Stitches in Lenox, Massachusetts Saturday April 10th (the week after Easter). Check out all the information here on their website. I'll be teaching Beginner Fair Isle Knitting and Steeking in a 4 hour class and doing a booksigning after.
April 10, 2010 - Colorful Stitches, Lenox

I usually don't teach beginning classes but after all of the feedback I have gotten from all of you, via the comments you have left in recent contests I have run, I have become determined to get more of you Fair Isle Knitting! You see, I learned to knit with two colors on my very first sweater so I was never fearful of it. But I do understand the fear of the unknown and want to help knitters get over it! And get you all to learn to STEEK too!

Recently, I've had lots of requests from the Albany area of NY State to come teach. I have no plans to come that way yet so I suggest some of you drive on over to Lenox - it isn't far at all!

Now that Julia is getting a bit older and our lambing is slowing down some, I've been able to arrange some more teaching appearances. I can't travel far, nor be away for too many days because things fall apart (and literally sometimes die) around here. I hate to disappoint guilds and stores who want me to come to teach but days wasted on planes just aren't for me. The gig has got to be really good or convenient to make me get on a plane.

That said, I'm going to be in Minnesota in September. Last fall I was asked by Nancy Soriano, former Editor in Chief of Country Living Magazine, to be the sole knitting teacher at the new giant Creative Women's Festival she and Jo Packham (Founder of Where Women Create) are putting on in the Midwest called "The Creative Connection." This offer was just too good to pass up - the chance to be the only knitting instructor amongst a sea of other creative women sharing the fever??? I didn't need to think long about that one. Here's the link to the event. Check it out along with all the fabulous teachers and panelists who will be there! Note: This is going to be BIG! There's gobs of publicity and smart women behind it and I am over the moon excited to be involved. Thank you Nancy.

And I might as well end up with an update on my upcoming "Get Stitched on the Farm" classes.

Here's the availability.
July 31/August 1, 2010 - 1 space available
August 14/15 - 5 spaces available
October 2/3 - 6 spaces available

Wanted to give all my loyal blog readers a heads-up because there are 2 big articles coming out in big time knitting magazines soon and there could be (let's hope) more demand from the regular knitting public!

I am going to try and make your class in April in Lenox, but I really would LOVE if you came to Albany!! I don't know who has been asking you, but I will add my voice to that chorus. I love your books, but will admit that fair isle intimidates me a bit too much to start alone. So, a beginner class is just the thing for me!
