Sunflowers, Wool, Wood, Smart Creative Women and Sox

First off - we had the dreaded frost. All the flowers are gone. The geraniums are potted up and inside - going for a Carl and Karin Larsson winter look. Here is the last sunflower bouquet on the porch.

Wool from Oregon Sheep Ranch being used for US Olympian uniforms. Check it out here. The same wool you can knit with from Imperial Yarn here. So nice to see the American Sheep and Wool Industry getting some positive buzz in the media.

November 1st, on NRK2 in Norway, they will be airing 5 hours of knitting. You can read about it here. They call it Slow TV. If you want to learn about using wood in Norway, you can watch a wood show by the same producers show now on-line. Wish I could understand what they are saying. Check out the mittens and the hand-knits. We heat with wood in our dual combination furnace so I am intimate with my woodpile and hauling wood all winter long. Just got our six cords which hopefully will last the winter.

If anyone finds the link to the wool show, could you send it my way so I can post it here for my readers to watch on-line?

I'm not sure if I have told you all about a great site called Smart Creative Women. Monica Lee is an illustrator and former owner of a greeting card company. She produces video interviews with authors, illustrators, artists, art agents and more talented folks discussing their lives and how they got where they are. You can watch them as videos or listen to them on audio. Check it out. She features famous people (at least famous in my world) including Mary Engelbreit, Amy Butler, Annie Selke, and so many more (mostly) women who I have not been aware of until Monica shared with me. Nice interviews for creative people to work by.....

GO RED SOX! (Had to get that in there.....)

Oh, why didn't I follow your lead and cut all my cosmos, dahlias and sunflowers before our frost hit? Very sad!

Yes, go Sox!

I watched just a bit of the show about wood---the mittens are amazing. I have been trying to make some colorwork mittens, and I don't know what my deal is, but my row gauge is so far off that the mittens are about four inches wide and 12 inches long. (!) Personally, I'm blaming it on menopause and daring anyone to differ.

Your last blooms of fall are beautiful!

I found this link to the "National Knitting Event" on NRK2 TV, but it either doesn't work for me or isn't happening yet - http://www.nrk.no/knitting/

I also found this article - http://www.deadline.com/2013/11/slow-tv-norwegian-phenomenon-continues-with-9-hour-%E2%80%98national-knitting-evening%E2%80%99-norway-nrk-lmno/

Sorry about those addresses - I'm not sure how to do links that work.

Always love your site Kristin...how do you keep up with so much?
