Harvesting, Harvesting

It's that time of year around here. My kitchen table is soon to be drowning in tomatoes. So much better than last year with the tomato blight that killed the entire crop. I just love all the shapes and beautiful colors.

Here's a sneak peek of things to come around here next week. Yes, the sunflowers are blooming and I am in picking mode. Hoping the upcoming remnants of the hurricane won't blow all the plants over....

Julia and I will be at the North Amherst Farmer's Market selling our lamb meat on Saturday from 9 to 2. We started there 3 weeks ago and it is a friendly little market with lovely vendors and easy parking. It is held in the parking lot of Watroba's Market for all you locals. On Saturday September 11th, there will be a block party at the market too. How fun!

I picked up these "Turkish Eggplants" from one of the vendors. Aren't they beautiful? They remind me of persimmons in the winter. They have delicate green stripes down the sides. I haven't cooked them yet but am enjoying the simple beauty of looking at them for sure.

Your produce looks so fresh and wonderful. Good luck with the storm and I hope you "weather" it well!

oooh, haven't tried turkish eggplants, you'll have to let us know if they taste any different.
i've been having to swipe sunflowers from my girlfriend as ours did not do well this year, i just love them though! Got my 50 pounds of tomatoes done this past weekend. I was looking for a tomato this morning and had none left ripe, lol!

Yes, please let us know how you cook the eggplants and what they're like--seeing these, who would ever want to grow anything else (if they're edible)?! Never seen any vegetable so lovely...

I really love tomatoes. Sadly this year I can't harvest any because of the heat we had.
The 2 plants that survived gave very small tomatoes (smaller than strawberries )Our dog at them before they were red.
Have fun and enjoy the harvesttime.

I have to hit the Farmer's Market to harvest. Worst garden I have ever had this year. Glad yours was productive!
