That's Done
I sent off my manuscript last night. Made the deadline by the skin of my teeth. I remember the days of sending huge piles of paper to a publisher for them to then type-set and do the book design. My how publishing has changed.
They say we are going to a paperless society but for me, I've got to read the print on paper to catch mistakes. I printed this baby out three times and can no longer look at it. I sent it off and now hope they are happy with what I have done. When it gets to a different form (i.e. more designed), I'll find more mistakes, I am sure.

I'll try to get some more kitty photos in between the cleaning. Have a great day everyone.

I'll bet that sending your manuscript off is a huge relief. I cannot imagine all of the work that must be done in order to publish a book. Whew!
That is such an adorable photo of Ness and wee Mona.
Congrats Krsitin!
Congratulations! Isn't it crazy how you can look at something you've created till your eyes bleed and not see a mistake, but then later on it's just so obvious.
Kristin, congrats to you on getting that step/click taken to send your creative pages to your publisher.
I completely agree about the impact of the paperless society in which we apparently now live. Surely, we are spared a certain amount of paper, but somehow I also think the bottom line total might still show paper in the lead.
So...let me raise a toast to books! And libraries, authors and publishers.
Your beautiful large dog and minuscule kitten make a fine duo. How good that harmony rules.
Best wishes. xo
Congrats and can't wait to see your latest creation!
Love Nessie and the kitten. A postcard for sure!
Congratulations! It's an achievement. I'm a long time copy editor and our corporate overlord has decreed that what we are to review is very limited in scope, must be done fast-fast-fast and must be done 100% onscreen. I have the lowest printed error rate here. My dirty little secret is that I print out the final draft and review it on paper. You can't see what it's going to look like in print unless you print it.
Congratulations Kristin, and hope all goes well on the pub. The kittie Nessie and your dog are just precious. Pals for life? Love your blog.

Hi - great post, thanks for letting us all catch up. That final photo is brilliant - you must put some onto cards. My collies are all wet and sandy - we're in Cornwall again and even though the morning is a bit foggy, they loved splashing along the beach. Happy days.
It was nice to hear that I was not the only one supporting the logging business. I too have to print out anything that I have typed ( Do they still call it that? My age is showing through.), To catch mistakes. Why is that? It is right there in front of us? I bet you are relieved though to have it done, Congrats. My question to you is how? How do you manage all that you do?
congrats on submitting! in theory i'm supposed to be the full advocate of a complete digital society (given my training). I need to print out writing and patterns to catch mistakes, and I rely on a paper calendar too. sending good thoughts and look forward to the proof stage.
i love the contrast of tiny kitten and not-so-tiny puppy... they grow so fast (or in my case start climbing everything so fast.)
