Let's start today with a beautiful photo of our sheep on the hill in the midst of autumn foliage.....
For the second season, I've teamed up with the fine folks at Regia for my Garden Effects Sock Yarn. Seriously - how exciting is this for me.... to have my colors all over the world. Whoa! Pinch me!
You all know how I wax poetically about the influence my garden and its plants and blooms have on my work. Sometimes I just think I can't think of anything else to say. But a few weeks ago, when I was photographing the new Garden Effects Sock Yarn colors, I was astounded by the truth. Here - in living color - you can see the summer flowers from my garden next to the new sock yarn colors. Wow! It really is true.
These are the new shades I designed. They add to the already established Garden Effects colors you can find on the Regia webpage here.
Check them out at your local yarn store. You'll need 2 balls for a pair of adult socks. Can't find them at your LYS? They are available on-line here.
It's Friday and I'm celebrating the launch of the new colors. Here's what I have for FOUR lucky winners......... 2 skeins of one of the new shades of Garden Effects (my choice of colors) - enough for a pair of socks for you or a lucky friend.
Here's how to enter.....
Answer the following question in the comments section......
Q: This winter I want to knit or crochet WHAT?
Please, US addresses only. As always, leave an easy way to get a hold of you - Ravelry id or email or blog address.

This winter it's going to be socks. Socks, socks, socks. I have four designer kits I've amassed and at least that many skeins of hand dyed. I give away almost all the socks I knit though to my mother, my sisters, my aunts, my daughters, and my cousins. So I can never knit enough pairs.
This winter I will finish the afghan I started three years ago. Really.

This winter I'm knitting a sweater for the only 1 of my 4 children (now all grown) for whom I've not knitted one!!! It's a promise to myself.
This winter I want to knit hats and mittens for the whole world! I keep seeing folks in drab winter acrylic. They need brightly colored wool to keep the chill away.
This winter I'm going to start colorwork. You heard it here first.
Other than knitting warm socks, all three of my grandchildren need new, bigger BLANKIES. One is almost done. Yarn and pattern picked for the second one.

It probably would be easier to answer what I don't want to knit this winter rather than what I do want to knit...frankly, I am going to knit just about everything! In the queue is an Amy Herzog sweater using her Custom Fit program, scarves, socks, a shawl for my sister, hats for donation, mittens using one of your designs, maybe some gloves...I guess the real question is "what do I plan to finish this winter"!! ;-) Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway!
I have a fair isle sweater I've been wanting to knit forever. But socks are great too. :-)

After I finish the two sweaters on the needles, I have another sweater waiting around to jump onto the needles. Usually I only knit one sweater each winter, but this year I hope to have three completed. Whew!
Thanks for the giveaway and Congrats on the yarn line. This winter I want to finish one sweater already started and knit a second one different pattern. Thanks again.

Great colors! And just in time, too. My sock yarn stash was getting shockingly low.
As for your question, this winter I want to knit sweaters. Lots and lots of sweaters, but I can't decide which pattern to start with. So I'll knit more socks in the meantime.

I would like to knit at least 3 sweaters this winter.
I was planning to start another cardigan with a zipper. However after adopting two kittens, I need to adjust my plans. Young kittens and knitting don't mix well together. The kittens are distracting. They are so much fun! Also, they are rambunctious.
Until they settle down, I'm going to work on smaller projects. There are a number of hats, mittens and the like that I want to work on. Also maybe a shawl or two. I made the pattern "hitchhiker" from the last version of Garden Effects yarn and really liked how it turned out.

I have already finished Flippant from form Knitty, Deep Fall 2013. Now I am working on Aidez. After this I have a couple of other sweaters I want to get done. I have tried to cut back on shopping for new cloths, so I guess this means I now want to knit myself more clothes.
If I were to win this yarn, I would definately be knitting more socks.
Right now I am working on a Central Park Hoodie(ready to start cables), a Ginny sweater from Harry Potter knits(still on ribbing) and a lap blanket in red, white and blue for the VFW home in Philly. I love the blue and would actually make socks with it....after I make DH's boot socks!!

This year I am knitting hats for winter. It started the other day when knitting a sock for a friend that I decided the pattern I used had enough stretch to be the bottom of a hat instead of ribbing. Into the stash and I have a lot of Julia, as I bought it before I could no longer find it. The first hat I made was terrific. It was soft and turned out just like I wanted. Then I started making the same hat, different sizes. They are all so wonderful. I think all of my children, their spouses and all the grandchildren will get one this Christmas. I am getting 5 sts to the inch on a 7 needle so they knit up quick.

I mostly crochet, but love the way knitting looks and feels. Drives me crazy that I'm not good at it. So far I've only knitted scarves. I am happy about the results, but I really want to know how to make socks. I have a couple of books and the needles. That's what I intend to do.

Thanks for the giveaway! My Ravelry name is Kathyquilts.
Every winter I knit something for my doctor for Valentine's day...socks, hats, mittens, scarves, etc. She absolutely LOVES brightly colored socks so that's first on my "to do" list after the holidays. She's a love and it's both an honor and a privilege to give her something special in return!
I am determined to knit socks this winter. rav id is pyemb

I will be making scarfs. I don't know whether they will be crocheted or knitted. I just picture a mug of coffee, my project, and old black and white movies playing...cozy inside while snow falls outside. s_e_sleeper@hotmail.com

This winter I'll be finishing a cardigan I started in the summer; then I'll be knitting some shawlettes. I love having different colored scarves to wear with my coat and just decoratively.
That lupine colorway in the sock yarn is just sooo my colors ;-).
I will be finishing 2 blankets, 1 scarf and some Christmas bunnies...then it will be time for socks!

What am I doing to knit this winter?????????????? A ribwarmer for my mother, a christmas stocking (one of yours) for my first grandson, a warm alpaca sweater for me (top down, Elizabeth Zimmerman), a pair of purple socks. I love your colors.
Beautiful yarn! This winter hope to catch up on some gift knitting which includes finishing my first pair of socks intended for my mother. First it was for her birthday, now I'm hoping Christmas. I'm stuck on the heel of the 2nd sock. First one went like a dream and when I got to the heel of the 2nd one I realized I didn't follow the pattern but actually like the end result but now can't recreate it! Ugh! RAV ID leannegoddard
Socks for my husband and a hat for my son.
I also want to finish the two sweaters on the needles before I start a third.
