Mums, Pie, and Autumn Sun

Check out the French knots and needle weaving on the bodice of this gorgeous dress from Anthro made in India (of course).

Thanks to Suzy over at Suzy's Artsy-Craftsy Sitcom for featuring my PDF Pattern for Creative Christmas Stockings.

My sister Laurie introduced me to this incredibly amazing Japanese horticulture technique called Ozukuri - known in the US as the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum. Check out the video below to see how it is done. Truly something else - all those blooms on ONE PLANT. If you live close to Longwood Gardens in PA, you can see this year's mum which has 1,416 blooms on it! Whoa!

Have you heard about this technique for making pie dough using vodka instead of water to make a flaky crust? If you are baking pies soon, you might want to give it a go.

My friend Diane sent me this quote that needs to be shared with all of you.....

"I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house."
 --- NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE

With that, I'll end today with a photo of the sheep the other evening. And then I'm going out in the beautiful sunshine.

I love the needle arts, that said I would be so cold wearing this. Unless, of course it was summertime.
