Happy Valentine's Day + A New Knit It Felt It Pattern - Countdown Day No. 1

First off, a little knitted heart to start off your day of love. I hope you all have a very Happy Valentine's Day full of chocolate, wine, roses or whatever your guilty pleasure may be.

Happy Valentine's Day Kntting Friends!
I've been a busy knitter worker bee developing another fun pattern for you all to knit. It is called the Knit It • Felt It Tech Cozies and it continues on my theme of felting and color. I'm going to take the next few days to preview it. I'm really excited about this pattern because I think many of you might even make it for yourselves! It is time for a little "me" knitting, don't you agree? Valentine's Day is all but over and there are still a couple good months before spring kicks in. I don't know about you but once spring rolls around, I feel guilty being in the house knitting. My yard and my garden beckon and there is so much to do.

So I am going to start off the previews with the smallest version in the pattern - it's a knitted, felted phone or ipod cosy. Mind you, it will fit any typical phone or mp3 player, I just happen to have an iphone so I used it in the photo.....

The back story to this project started last summer. Julia has a summer birthday and I felt that since she would be going to middle school and riding the school bus for a long time every day, it was time to indulge her with an ipod. So what does every child of a knitter need but a knitted, felted iPod or phone cosy.  So I cast on and knit her a pink (what else) and electric blue polka dot iPod cozy.

Julia takes it to school in her backpack every morning. I'm glad my 7th grader is still using things her Mom makes her! Even if she is growing up before our eyes, wearing lip gloss, eye shadow and dangling earrings. Where does the time go?

This is a quick knit, worked on double pointed needles in the round. The V-flap shaping is easy to do. And the cool thing about this project is it can also become a case for pens, pencils, double pointed needles or like Julia, lip gloss and an iPod. So if you aren't a cell phone toting kind of person, you still might want to work one up for yourself. Stop back again for some more previews the next few days.

I'll leave you with a sweet little lamb photo I took while feeding the lambs in the barn the other day - boy are they growing fast!

Hi Kristin,

I can't believe your daughter is in middle school! That's a shock to the system.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've been having fun with the beaded flowers. My crazy idea is to reproduce the American prairie one flower at a time. :-)

Have a great Valentine's Day! May it be filled with family, sunshine and of course, lots of chocolate!

Best,
Lindsay

I can't even begin to imagine the hours of work that go into your wonderful farm, but for me, looking at those beautiful sheep and lambs, it looks so peaceful and relaxing.

You know...that little holder with extra width added to it would be great for a nook or an ereader. I'm just saying :). Your daughter is beautiful and you have every right to be proud.
