Bright Lights, Big Glittering Decorated City

I have great memories of visiting NYC when I was little with my family during the Christmas season. Growing up in NJ, it was easy to get there although dragging five small children around town would put me over the edge. (How did you do that Mom and Dad?) I have avoided taking Julia to NYC at Christmas until I knew she would be able to soak it all in and remember. This was the year. My sister Jenn gave us tickets to see Annie at Madison Square Garden as a Christmas gift. Mom, Jenn, Julia, Olivia (Jenn's little friend) and I did up the town after the play.

Lunch at Macy's after the play and the interactive Christmas windows.

The Skaters at Rockefeller Center.

Saks' snowflakes - so pretty.

Tin soldiers above Radio City marquee.

What can I say - I love NY. Thank you Jenn for getting us there and making it happen in 2006.

Hi Kristin,
I love this post. My husband and I go to NY every Thanksgiving but this year we had the opportunity to walk on 5th Avenue after dinner, late enough for the crowds to have thinned out quite a bit and we got to see the lights, the windows, the skaters like I had not seen them in a long time and it was magical. The snow flakes covering the facade of Saks were gorgeous seen from Rockefeller Plaza. Thanks for posting photos.

When my husband and I were in college at Hofstra, during one of our first christmases together, we took the train into the city for the day. It snowed, we skated, saw all the wonderful window displays and had a magical time! I also love NY. :)

Thank you for sharing NYC at Christmas. I was there in the spring and enjoyed it - that was the spring of 1981!

I too love NY but have never been there at Christmas time (despite having a step-daughter who lived there for 3 years--she was always coming home, so it made no sense for us to go up there). Thank you for showing me a little of what I've missed.
